Bhubaneawar, May 26: The landfall process of Cyclone Yass will start around 10 AM -11 AM around Basudevpur – Bahanaga area on Wednesday, informed Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena.
“Cyclone Yaas movement per hour around 12 kmph. Landfall to be delayed, may be will start around 10-11 AM. Wind speed around 130 kmph. Landfall around Basudevpur- Bahanaga area (slight north/south of the area),” tweeted SRC Jena.
As per the latest IMD bulletin, Cyclone Yass is now centred about 40-km east of Dhamra & 80-km south-southeast of Balasore; to cross north #Odisha-West Bengal coasts to north of Dhamra & south of Balasore during noon of 26th May as a very severe cyclonic storm with wind speed of 130-140 kmph.
The Meteorogical Department has forecast the wind speed of the cyclone during landfall to remain around 130-140 kmph gusting to 155 kmph along and off Bhadrak and Balasore districts. Similarly, wind speed likely to remain 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph along and off Kendrapara district. It will decrease gradually after landfall becoming 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 kmph by evening.
