Naveen announces ‘Ashirbad’ to help children orphaned by COVID19 in Odisha

Bhubaneawar, June 20: To help children who are orphaned by COVID19, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced a special scheme ‘Ashirbad’.

The Chief Minister directed all the district Collectors to take steps to ensure that no helpless child is left out.

Under the scheme, children who have lost both their parents or single parent on or after April 1, 2020 will get an assistance of Rs 2,500 per month. Those who lost their mother or father as the sole bread earner will get Rs 1,500 per month and kids staying at child care institutions to receive Rs 1,000 per month.

To ensure higher education for the kids, Government’s ‘Green Passage’ scheme will be implemented for them while free medical facilities will be provided under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana. The children will also be included under State’s Food Security Scheme.
