Sambit Patra appointed ITDC Chairman

New Delhi, December 1: Senior BJP leader Sambit Patra on Wednesday has been appointed as the Chairman of India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), said an official communiqué issued by Government of India.

Patra’s appointment was approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).

According to the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the Ministry of Tourism’s proposal to split the post of Chairman and Managing Director of ITDC into Chairman, ITDC, and Managing Director (MD), ITDC.

Ganji Kamala V Rao, a 1990-batch IAS officer, will continue in the post of Managing Director of ITDC until further orders, it said.

“Appointment of Dr Patra as Part-Time Non-Executive Director and Chairman of ITDC for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier,” the order stated.
