Sudhir Dhangdamajhi’s book ‘Khangar’ wins Bestseller Award

Bhubaneswar, December 23: Book ‘Khangar’ by young storyteller Sudhir Kumar Dhangdamajhi has been awarded with the Timepass Bestseller Award.

Dhangdamajhi was felicitated by the publishing house ‘Timepass’ at the ‘Utsahitya’ function organised at Utkal Rangamancha, Bhubaneswar recently.

Noted novelist Bibhuti Patnaik, Hindi writer Dhrub Shukla, eminent story writer Gaurahari Das, Odia Language, Literature, Culture Department Director Ranjan Kumar Das attended the function organised under the chairmanship of Saroj Bal, director of Timepass.

‘Khangar’, published by Timepass in 2018, was highly appreciated by Odia readers. This book has been shortlisted for the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar-2020. The stories in the book narrate the lives, dreams, love, struggles, emotions and rebellions of youth, tribals and common people, while the use of Kalahandia words in Odia stories makes them even more interesting.

Dhangdamajhi is grateful that the book has been bought by readers in large numbers from Amazon, book fairs and bookstores. He also thanked the publisher, critics, well wishers and media representatives.

He said, “This award is an inspiration for writing and it will make me more responsible.”
