Odisha: President arrives on two-day visit to Puri

Bhubaneswar/Puri, February 19: President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday arrived in Bhubaneswar on a two-day visit to Puri.

Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, DGP Sunil Bansal, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissioner of Police Soumendra Priyadarsi, Khurda Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra and senior officials received the President at the Biju Patnaik International Airport at around 2.28 PM on his arrival.

Soon after landing at the airport, the President left for Puri in a special IAF aircraft where he will spend the night.

He also visited the Shree Jagannath Temple in the evening and offered prayers to the sibling deities. Governor Ganeshi Lal, SJTA Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar and servitors accompanied the President to the 12th century shrine.

On February 20, President Kovind will inaugurate the three-year celebration of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Srimad Bhakti Sidhant Saraswati Goswami Prabhupada, the founder of Goudiya Mission. He will also visit Sri Chaitanya Gaudiya Mutt at 10.30 AM.

Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in Puri for the visit of the President. Around 40 platoons of police force have been deployed for the security arrangements in the pilgrim town for the two-day visit of the President.

This is the President’s third visit to Puri. Last time, the President along with his wife Savita Kovind had visited the pilgrim town and Shree Jagannath Temple in March 2021.
