Puri, March 1: On the occasion of Maha Shivratri, renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has created a sculpture of Lord Shiva adorned with 23,436 rudrakshas at Puri beach here.
The 18-feet-wide and nine-foot-high sand art was erected on Monday. The artwork was completed in six hours while 12 tonnes of sand has been used for the same.
The sand art, too, has a message. “Om Namah Shivaya. We pray for peace,” reads a section of the artwork besides a representation of a Shivling, which is completely covered by the Rudrakshas.
Previously on February 22, the internationally acclaimed sand artist created a sand art which appeals to Russia and Ukraine to maintain peace and harmony.
