Bhubaneswar, March 26: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday appealed to the people of the state to be part of ‘Earth Hour’, an endeavour of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to raise awareness of nature loss and climate change – the two biggest threats facing the planet, on March 26.

People across the globe observe ‘Earth Hour’ by turning off lights between 8:30 PM and 9.30 PM on the last Saturday of March.

The Chief Minister said that he will observe the Earth Hour at Naveen Niwas, the residence of the CM by switching off all electrical equipment from 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM today.

“Joining #EarthHour, I will switch off all electrical equipment at Naveen Niwas from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm today. Appeal all to join the global movement to nurture nature and keep our shared planet healthy for future generations. Let’s do our bit to save our Earth, our only home,” tweeted Patnaik.

Earth Hour started in Sydney, Australia, in 2007.
