Tejeswar urges specialist doctors to serve in remote areas of Kendrapara

Odisha

Bhubaneswar, April 10: To ensure that residents of far-flung and remote areas have access to healthcare and specialised medical services, former Odisha Khadi & Village Industries Board Chairman has appealed to specialist doctors born or brought up in Kendrapara district to come forward to provide quality treatment to the people in the rural areas in the district.

“Health service system has deteriorated on account of the dearth of specialist doctors in almost all Government hospitals in Kendrapara district. People have been forced to move to hospitals in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar,” said Parida, who hails from Patkura in the district.

While patients fail to meet transport expenditure, extra treatment cost adds to their woes, added Parida.

“I urge upon specialist doctors born or brought up in Kendrapara to come forward to provide treatment to people in blocks and rural areas at affordable costs. All necessary support will be ensured to them,” assured the young leader.

“Wherever you are, please come to your native place once a month and provide treatment to your fellow people with your long experience in healthcare. I will provide all required support. Kindly contact me at – 9439950078,” appealed Parida.

The idea is to breathe a new lease of life into the vacancy-hit healthcare sector. It could not have been mooted at a better time since acute staff crunch has crippled the hospitals across the State, particularly in Kendrapara district.
