Odisha: 143 Ayurvedic Medical Officers join State Health system

Bhubaneswar, October 7: As many as 143 Ayurvedic Medical Officers joined the State health system on Wednesday at a programme organised at the Lok Seva Bhawan here.

Gracing the occasion Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the traditional knowledge of Ayurveda along with modern healthcare system has been helpful in making our healthcare system more effective.

Welcoming the new medical officers to the healthcare system of the State, he asked them to follow 5T initiative to boost our transformative journey in healthcare.

He said that the initiative applies the elements of Teamwork, Transparency, Technology and Time leading to Transformation.

Speaking that “Sustha Odisha, Sukhi Odisha” has been the guiding principle of his government in healthcare’ he said ‘Every Life Matters.’

Speaking on the State’s commitment to provide universal access to quality healthcare services and bring down the out-of-pocket expenses of the people, he said that the size of the budget of the Health Department is increasing over the years.

“Our healthcare budget estimate has been increased to over Rs 12,000 crore in the current financial year which is almost double what it was three years ago. It is more than six percent of the State Plan,” he added.

Health & Family Welfare Minister Naba Das, department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shalini Pandit and Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra also spoke.

Three Medical Officers Dr Ashish Tripathi, Dr Deeptimayee Rout and Dr. Neha Tiwari also spoke on the occasion.
