Bhubaneawar, January 30: A new cashew cultivation programme will be taken up in 20,000 hectares of land in Odisha this year, said Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department Principal Secretary Dr Arabinda Padhee here on Monday.
Padhee was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of two-day national conference on “Encashing Technological Innovations for Production and Productivity of Cashew” at Lokaseva Bhawan here.
The conference is being organised by Odisha State Cashew Development Corporation (OSCDC) in collaboration with the Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development (DCCD).
The objective of the conference is to formulate a plan for the advancement of the cashew industry, through expert discussions regarding the production of better quality cashew saplings, integrated pest management, post-harvest management, pricing, processing, packaging and marketing.
Further, the conference with participation of eminent scientists, academicians, professors and farmers will find the solution to increase productivity by encashing recent technology.
