Bhubaneawar, March 24: In another boost to cancer care in Odisha, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given permission to start MD Pathology course having four seats at the Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC), Cuttack.
The NMC has given Letter of Intent (LoI) for four seats of MD Pathology Course from current the academic year.
First batch for MD in Anaesthesiology has already taken admission while Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute plans to propose DM in Medical Oncology and MCh in Head and Neck Oncology in 2023.
In the year 2022, NMC had permitted to start MD Anaesthesiology and the first batch has already taken admission.
At present the other Post Graduate and Super Speciality courses – MCh (Super Specialisation in Surgery) in Surgical Oncology, MCh in Gynaecological Oncology and MD (Super specialization in medicine) Radiation Oncology are available at the premier institute.
Besides, various other paramedical courses like Diploma in Medical lab Technology (DMLT) and Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) are being conducted at the institute.
This year, Diploma in Radiotherapy Technician course is also approved by the Odisha Government. The institute is planning to propose DM in Medical Oncology and MCh in Head and Neck Oncology in 2023.
