Odisha: Nikunja Bihari Dhal appointed new CEO

Bhubaneawar, March 24: Senior IAS officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal has been appointed as new Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the State.

Election Commission of India has issued the appointment of the 1993-batch IAS Dhal in consultation with the State Government, said Rahul Sharma, Principal Secretary Election Commission of India in the order.

ECI has stipulated that while functioning as CEO Dhal will not hold any additional charge whatsoever under the Government of Odisha.

Dhal, the incumbent Additional Chief Secretary (Energy Department), will take over from Sushil Kumar Lohani, who is presently holding charge of CEO. Dhal is also holding additional charge of various other sectors.

According to a General Administration and Public Grievance Department notification, ACS (Revenue & Disaster Management), Satyabrata Sahu has been given additional charge of Special Relief Commissioner (SRC).

Sahu is holding additional charge as ACS Odia Language, Literature & Culture.

Similarly, 1995-batch IAS Sushil Kumar Lohani has been appointed Principal Secretary Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water. He has been given additional charge as Principal Secretary Department of Excise.

Principal Secretary Rural Development, Sanjay Kumar Singh of 1997-batch, has been given additional charge of Department of Energy. He is currently holding additional charge of Information & Public Relations, Commercial Tax & GST.

Similarly, 2007-batch IAS Gyanaranjan Das has been appointed as Managing Director Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA).

He is now serving as Executive Director OSDMA.
