Odisha: Naveen Patnaik inaugurates BJD’s new office ‘Shankha Bhawan’

Bhubaneswar, April 23: Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik on Sunday inaugurated a new party office of the ruling BJD called ‘Shankha Bhawan’ on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya here.

A big conch (BJD’s political symbol) with portraits of the Holy Trinity – Lord Jagannath, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra, adorns the exterior of the new office located in Unit-6 area here.

On this occasion, Patnaik expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to raising the party office.

“Shankha Bhawan dedicated today will be an inspirational space for not just the physical, social, economic, cultural and political growth of Odisha, but also the spiritual growth rooted in the principles of Jagannath Sanskruti and culture Vasudheiba Kutumbakam,” said Patnaik.

“Shankha Bhawan will work for propagating glorious culture of Lord Jagannath across the world. Let’s all join hands to carry forward the tradition of dedicated service to people, tradition of development and dedicate ourselves to keep the glory of our motherland shining,” he added.

Patnaik said that after the formation of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which was inspired by the principles of legendary leader Biju Patnaik, a new era began.

“BJD was formed as the regional party to serve the people of Odisha, and now it has transformed into a social revolution,” added Patnaik.

With the inauguration of the building, the renovated BJD office will start functioning today.

It can be mentioned here that the BJD was formed in December 1997, following a split from the erstwhile Janata Dal.

In the 2019 State Assembly elections, the party bagged 112 seats out of the 147-membered legislature. Patnaik has been serving as the Chief Minister of Odisha since 2000 without any break.
