Bhubaneswar, November 24: Giving a major impetus to industrial development in Odisha, the High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) led by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday approved 12 key industrial projects with a cumulative investment of Rs 84,918.75 crore.
These projects in apparel and textiles to green hydrogen and green ammonia, steel, power and renewable energy, chemical and petro chemical downstream sectors set to create employment opportunities for 42,281 people in several districts.
These projects will be strategically located across the State, including Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Ganjam, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kendrapada, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh districts.
Among the projects, three major proposals from Welspun Group have been approved by the HLCA, including establishment of a Textile and Logistics Facility at Choudwar in Cuttack by Welspun Living with investment of Rs 3,050 crore and employment potential for 20,210 people.
Welspun Corp has also received green light to invest Rs 3,137 crore on steel downstream sector which will generate employment for 3,830 individuals in Sambalpur.
The HLCA has also approved proposal from Welspun New Energy for establishment of a Green Ammonia manufacturing unit in Kendrapara with an investment of Rs 13,860 crore. A proposal from Sembcorp Green Hydrogen India to establish Green Ammonia Manufacturing Unit in Gopalpur, Ganjam at cost of Rs 13,000 crore and employment potential for 1,250 individuals has also been approved.
In the Power and Renewable Energy sector, NTPC’s proposal for a 800 MW super thermal power plant in Sundargarh, with Rs 9,208.36 crore investment has received green light from the HLCA.
The Orissa Metallurgical Industry has also received approval for investing Rs 5200 crore to set up a 2 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant, 240 MW Captive Power Plant and 1 MTPA Cement Grinding Unit, generating employment for 6,000 Individuals in Jharsuguda.
The HLCA also further approved proposition from ReNew E-Fuels to invest Rs 10,005 crore for a Green Hydrogen (100 KTPA) and Green Methanol (500 KTPA) manufacturing unit in Malkangiri. The proposal from ReNew E-Fuels for setting up Green Hydrogen (60 KTPA) and Green Methanol (300 KTPA) manufacturing unit in Rayagada at the cost of Rs 9,000 crore has been approved.
Other projects which have received HLCA nod include, Tata Steel’s HR & CR Coil plant in Dhenkanal valued at Rs 10,351.11 crore, BMW Industries’ production plant in steel sector in Jajpur worth Rs 1,094.82 crore, Ind Barath Energy Utkal’s Ultra Super Critical Coal Fired Thermal Power Project in Jharsuguda and Aegis Vopak’s project to establish a Greenfield Tank Storage Facility for liquid Ammonia in Gopalpur of Ganjam district.
