Odisha: 441 JEs join Water Resources Dept

Bhubaneswar, January 4: As many as 441 Junior Enginners joined the Water Resources Department on Thursday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik graced the Nijukti Parba organised for the new recruits and called upon them to follow the 5T principles.

“With this 5T initiative in place, several major irrigation projects have been accelerated with application of modern technology,” said Patnaik.

The Chief Minister asked all the new engineers to keep themselves updated in new technologies and bring innovative solutions to challenging issues.

“Water resources is a critical wing of Odisha Government that looks into a multitude of development works making a significant impact on people from all sections of society,” said Patnaik.

Speaking on various projects of the department, the CM mentioned that Odisha has more than 4,000 dams and several others are under construction.

The State Government has taken up construction of 30 in-stream storage structures in the 1st phase and another 41 will be constructed in second and third phase,” added the Chief Minister.

“These projects will help in water conservation, rural water supply and help improve the ground water level which is emerging as a critical environmental issue everywhere,” the CM further said.

Water Resources Minister Tukuni Sahu, Development Commissioner-Cum-Additional Chief Secretary Water Resources Department Anu Garg also graced the occasion.
