Bhubaneswar, August 8: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday announced a cash award of Rs 4 crore for Odia Hockey star Amit Rohidas after India won bronze defeating Spain 2-1 at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Majhi also declared Rs 15 lakh each for all other team members and support staff of Hockey India team.
“By winning bronze at the Paris Olympics in Men’s Hockey, the Indian boys have made us proud. I have invited them to come to Odisha after returning from Paris,” the CM said.
Odisha is the official sponsor of Hockey India.
Amit, who hails from Sundergarh in Odisha, was also part of the gold medal-winning team at the 2014 and 2022 Asian Games. Rohidas was instrumental in the Indian team’s gold-medal winning effort at the 2023 Asian Champions Trophy.
