More than Australian & New Zealand population travel in trains in 24 hours in India

Bhubaneswar, November 6: More than the Australian and New Zealand population has been carried by Indian Railways in 24 hours, said an official release.

According to a communique of Indian Railways, 65 lakh passengers have been facilitated by Railways during October 1 to November 5 through special trains.

“Around 7.5 crore passengers carried to BIhar, East UP and Jharkhand during October 1 to November 5 through schedule and special trains,” it stated.

“Monday i.e. 04/011/2024 highest no of passengers carried by Indian Railways in a single day time. 120.72 lakh (19.43 lakh reserved and 101.29 unreserved non-suburban) passengers were carried on November 4,” it added.

For the Puja/Diwali/Chath rush 2024, a total of 7,666 special train services have been notified between October 1 and November 30. In the same period last year 4,429 trips were operated, it further stated.

“Till date 4,521 special trains run from October 1 to November 5. Around 65 lakh passengers have been facilitated by Railways during this period in special trains,” it added.

While 297 trains ran on November 3, 203 trains ran on November 4 and 171 trains on November 5.

“There is plan to run 164 trains today while 164 trains are planned for November 7,” the Railways statement said.
