Koraput, December 15: A two-day workshop on open access publishing was conducted at Central University of Odisha at its Sunabeda Campus here on Friday and Saturday.
The Workshop was organized by the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication of CUO in collaboration with Central Library, IIT Delhi.
Vice Chancellor of CUO Prof. Chakradhar Tripathi inaugurated the two-day workshop.
Also present on the occasion were Prof. Vibhash Chandra Jha, Advisor, Academics & Administration of CUO, Dr. Nabi Hasan, Librarian, IIT Delhi, Dr. Mohit Garg, Asst. Librarian, IIT, Delhi and Dr. Nikhil Kumar Gouda, Head, Dept. of JMC and Convener of the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Tripathi said that research should always be of good quality and good quality publications are necessary now. We should enhance our publications based on Indian system rather than following the western principle.
“Our publications should be visible at international level, so that India will be projected positively at the international academic arena, he said. Self-projection is required to revive the academic quality and revive the earth,” said Tripathi.
Dr. Hasan explained the purpose and functions of Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) andcsaid that it is necessary to maintain good quality publications in academics.
“Odisha is rich in talent and the academicians of Odisha should make their talent visible through good publications,” he said.
Dr. Garg said that we have knowledge kept with us, but it needs to be disseminated to society. Prof. Jha insisted upon good quality publications by young academicians to maintain positive ethics in the society. He said that in the era of information and digitization every publication should be known to society.
Dr. Nikhil Kumar Gouda delivered the Welcome address and explained the purpose of the Workshop. Dr. Pradosh Kumar Rath, Co-convener of the Workshop, proposed the Vote of Thanks. The two-day workshop dealt with technical sessions consisting of research publications, good quality journals, and Open access publishing and related topics.
The Workshop was conducted by Dr. Nabi Hasan, Dr. Mohit Garg from IIT Delhi and Dr. D. Narayana from Central Tribal University, Andhra Pradesh. Delhi as resource persons. The workshop was participated by more than 70 participants including faculty members of various institutions along with CUO faculty members and research scholars of the University.
