Bhubaneswar, March 27, 2018: The State Government on Tuesday
signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Vedanta Ltd for setting of
a medical college and hospital in Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district.

The MoU for construction of the project was signed by State
Health and Family Welfare Department and Vedanta Limited in presence of Chief
Minister Naveen Patnaik. The proposed 100-seat medical college and 500-bed
hospital will go a long way in ensuring quality healthcare for the people of
Kalahandi and adjoining districts.

constant efforts to provide affordable and comprehensive healthcare services to
the people at their doorsteps in every part of Odisha.

“The Government is setting up nine new medical colleges and
hospitals, spread across the districts to cover every region with quality
healthcare facilities so that people do not have to travel to the big cities
for tertiary care. The medical colleges will also go a long way in resolving
the issue of shortage of doctors in the State,” said CM Naveen Patnaik.
