Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will lay
foundation stone for a LPG Bottling Plant at Barkhani, about 12 km from the Bolangir
railway station in Bolangir district on May 21. It will be the fifth plant in

The Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will set up
the project with an estimated cost of Rs 103 crore. The plant, spread over an
area of 23 acres, will be completed by 2020, said BPCL Regional LPG Manager (East)

Currently, Odisha has four LPG Bottling plants at Balasore,
Jharsuguda, Khurda and Jatni, set up by different oil PSUs. And the total
capacity of the four plants stands at 2.80 crore cylinder per annum.

The proposed bottling plant at Bolangir is the second by Bharat
Petroleum Corporation Limited in Odisha after Khurda.

Two other plants are likely to set up at Bhubaneswar and
Rayagada. While the current bottling capacity of the four plants is 2.80 crore
cylinders per annum, the bottling capacity will increase to 4.06 crore
cylinders annually once three new plants start production. The proposed new
plant will supply LPG cylinders to the consumers in 14 districts – Bolangir,
Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Sonepur Koraput,
Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Nuapada.
