Sambalpur: BJP president Amit Shah will address a meeting in Sambalpur on Friday to strengthen the party base in western Odisha. BJP’s performance was stupendous in the three-tier panchayat poll in 2017, especially in western Odisha.
It will be Shah’s third visit to the State in a fortnight after he addressed party workers at Kulia in Salipur area in Cuttack district on January 29 and in Puri on February 3.
Thousands of grassroots workers from Sambalpur, Bargarh, Dhenkanal and Sundargarh will attend Shah’s public meeting. It will give impetus to Mission 120 Plus, a campaign to win at least 120 of 147 Assembly seats.
Shah will address booth level workers of Sambalpur Parliamentary constituency at Dhankauda and review preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly polls.
The party president will also perform a puja at the Samaleswari Temple, the presiding deity of Sambalpur and garland the statue of Veer Surendra Sai at Jail Chowk before attending the meeting.
The saffron party has eight MLAs from western Odisha along with the only MP from the State, Jual Oram, was elected from Sundargarh, also in western Odisha. BJP’s performance was stupendous in the three-tier panchayat poll in 2017, especially in western Odisha.
