Bhubaneswar: Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, who resigned from the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Thursday, joined BJP on Saturday in New Delhi.
He joined the saffron party in the presence of Union Ministers Jual Oram, Dharmendra Pradhan, party national vice president Baijayant Panda, party Odisha in-charge Arun Singh.
He resigned the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD amid the speculation that the ruling BJD is likely to deny tickets to all the four sitting MPs and more than a dozen MLAs for the first phase elections. A woman candidate is likely to be fielded from Nabarangpur seat.
Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Berhampur and Koraput Lok Sabha constituencies including the 28 Assembly segments coming under the five LS constituencies will go to polls in the first phase on April 11.
Recently, former BJD veterans Damodar Rout and Baijayant Panda joined the saffron party in New Delhi.
