Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday expressed deep concern on the health condition of Padma Shri D Prakash Rao who is undergoing treatment in SCB Medical College, Cuttack and announced free treatment for the noted social activist.
“Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep concern on the health condition of Padma Shri D. Prakash Rao who is undergoing treatment in SCB Medical College, Cuttack. CM wished him speedy recovery and directed @CuttackDM to ensure free medical facility and supervise his treatment,” tweeted the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO).
On Tuesday Rao complained of chest pain during his tour to Angul to attend a programme and was rushed to a hospital nearby. Later, he was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital. He is under treatment at the Medicine ICU of the premier State-run hospital.
As per reports, Rao suffers a brain stroke resulting in right-sided paralysis.
Notably, on May 27 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi showered praises on Rao for his noble deed of educating poor slum kids of his locality. Modi narrated Rao’s story while addressing the nation during his monthly radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat.’
Later, he was conferred with country’s fourth highest civilian award in recognition of his charitable work in the field of education of slum children by President Ram Nath Kovind.
