Bhubaneswar: Actress Deepa Sahu passed on Monday in a private hospital here after a long battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband and a daughter.
She was popular as an actress in Odia music videos in late 90s and early 2000s. The actress also later acted in several Odia films and television serials. She was suffering from third stage of uterus cancer had been undergoing treatment for last one year.
However, her condition worsened since the lockdown started and at the same time her family faced financial crisis.
Actor Akhil Patnaik helped the family in admitting her to the cancer ward Government-run Capital Hospital. She was later shifted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and later to a private hospital.
“Another Sad News as our very dear Deepa Sahu left us alone today at 4:02pm. She was fighting with cancer. She was one of the most successful actress who brought revolution in Odia Album industry. May her soul rest in peace 🙏 #RIPdeepa #Deepasahu,” tweeted Ollywood actor Sabyasachi Mishra.
Deepa was a popular household name for her beautiful expressions and dance in music albums – Tor Krushnachuda Rangara Nali Odhani, Ekda Ekda Ra, Haai Haai Toh Mali Phula Gajara and many more.
