Odisha CM launches 47 more Advanced Life Support Ambulances

Bhubaneswar, April 14: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday dedicated 47 new Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulances to the people of Odisha on the occasion of Odia New Year and Maha Bishuba Sankranti.

The Chief Minister expressed hope that these ambulances will meet the increasing demand for transportation of patients with advanced life support system.

Out of the 47 ambulances, 28 will be managed under 108 service and 19 will be deployed at Medical Colleges & Hospitals. The total number of ALS Ambulances now stands at 103 which are running under 108 services to provide quality emergency care transport free of cost.

Odisha currently operates a fleet of 596 vehicles under Emergency Medical Ambulance Service, with 540 having Basic Life Support System and 56 having Advanced Life Support System. Additionally, 500 Janani Express ambulances are operating under Referral Transport Ambulance Service.

Besides, Odisha has sanctioned a fleet of six Boat Ambulances in riverine areas in Kendrapara, Kalahandi, Koraput and Malkangiri districts to provide transportation to sick and injured. Till now, more than 62 lakh people have benefited from both 108 and Janani Express ambulance services in the State.
