Bhubaneswar, April 29: Odisha on Thursday recorded as many as 6,998 new COVID-19 cases, 4,521 recoveries and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours in the State, said an official release.
Of the fresh cases spread across all 30 districts, 4,054 were detected among people in quarantine and 2,944 were local infections.
As per the data released by the Health Department, Khurda recorded the maximum 919 cases while Cuttack with 517 cases remains second in the list and Sundergarh with 474 cases stands third.
Other districts which detected cases over 100 are, Nuapada (420), Jharsuguda (396), Bargarh (330), Angul (325), Sambalpur (323), Mayurbhanj (308), Kalahandi (292), Puri (288), Nawarangpur (255), Bolangir (236), Jajpur (226), Rayagada (181), Keonjhar (160), Sonepur (131), Ganjam (128), Gajapati (121), Nayagarh (121) and Jagatsinghpur (104).
The State has so far tested a total of 99,97,140 samples. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 4.29 per cent.
With 22 more people succumbing to the virus, the death toll surged to 2,029 in the State.
With this, State’s Coronavirus positive tally rose to 4,35,513. The active cases in the State stood at 57,710 while 3,75,721 patients have recovered from the infections, so far.
The State has, so far, tested a total of 1,00,41,204 samples, including 44,064 on Wednesday.
