Cuttack/Bhawanipatna, July 3: A Vigilance team from Cuttack on Saturday nabbed Vigilance Special Public Prosecutor Asuthosh Mishra while he was taking Rs 1 lakh bribe from suspended Mahulpatna Outpost ASI Malay Rana to dismiss a case.
Mishra was attached to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance in Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district as a Special Prosecutor. He was caught red handed by the Vigilance sleuths while he was accepting the bribe from the Malay Kumar Rana, ASI Malay rana (now under suspension) in order to help Rana in a Vigilance case charge-sheeted against him and pending in the Court of Special Vigilance Judge in Bhawanipatna.
“Today Ashutosh Mishra, Special Public Prosecutor attached to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna, District-Kalahandi has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance Cell Division, Cuttack while demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs 1,00,000 from the Complainant Malay Kumar Rana, ASI (now under suspension) of Kalahandi District in order to help him in a Vigilance case charge-sheeted against him and pending in the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna,” said a Vigilance Directorate statement.
The bribe money has been recovered and seized from the accused Mishra. The residential house of the accused at Radhakrishna Nagar, Bhawanipatna town is being searched on DA angle, it said. Further investigation is on.
