Digital Crop Survey in 4 districts in Odisha this Kharif season

Bhubaneswar, July 12: Digital Crop Survey will be conducted in four districts in the State during Kharif-2023. A workshop for training of taluka level trainers was inaugurated by Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department Secretary Arabinda Padhee here on Wednesday.

The workshop was also graced by Agriculture and Food Production Director Prem Chandra Chaudhary.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare sets a plan to conduct a pilot survey in 10 States, including four districts in Odisha, during Kharif-2023.

The workshop emphasised on outcomes for effective and successful implementation of Digital Crop Survey.

The purpose of Digital Crop Survey is to assess the plot-level crops grown in every season on each verified land and authenticate the data through physical inspection of Geo-tagged photographs, said the State Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department.

The project aims to create one verified source of truth about the farmers and their crop-sown data. A robust, effective, on-time, transparent digitally driven crop survey system that uses the latest technological advancements such as visual and advanced analytics, GIS-GPS technologies and AI/ML is, thus, a critical need to effectively address the above listed issue

To move ahead with the initiation of Digital Crop Survey in the states, MoUs were signed between the Central Government and the State Governments of Assam, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh.
