Brown sugar worth Rs 1.10 crore seized by cops in Odisha

Bhubaneswar, August 21: The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Police Crime Branch has seized brown sugar worth Rs 1.10 crore and arrested four persons in this connection, said an official release on Monday.

According to a STF release, the drug peddlers have been identified as Sk Faiyaz, Sk Shamshed, Sk Murad, all the residents of Balubazar and Sandeep Nayak of Patrapada in Balasore district.

Based on intelligence inputs, a raid was conducted by a team of STF and Balasore district police personnel near Balasore station road on Sunday night.

“During search contraband brown sugar (Heroin) weighing 01 Kg100 gram (1100gm), one Boxor M/c and other incriminating materials were recovered and seized from their possession. The accused persons could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such contraband materials, for which the accused persons were arrested and will be forwarded to the court of District & Sessions cum Special Judge, Balasore,” stated the release.

Since 2020, STF has seized more than 71 Kg of brown sugar/heroin, 202 gram of cocaine and more than 116 quintals of ganja/marijuana, opium 750 gram and arrested more than 176 drug dealers/peddlers.
