Interim Budget: Odisha gets allocation of Rs 10,536 crore for railway sector

Bhubaneswar, February 1: Odisha has received an allocation of Rs 10,536 crore in the interim budget for the development of railway sector in the State. The outlay is 1,157% more than the average allocation of 2009-14.

“Odisha has been allocated a remarkable outlay of Rs 10,536 crore for multiple rail infra and safety projects,” said Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman unveiled the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 in Parliament today, and during her Interim Budget speech in the lower house of parliament, she announced an earmarked capital expenditure of Rs 2.55 lakh crore for the Indian Railways in the upcoming financial year. This marks an increase from the previous fiscal year’s allocation of Rs 2.4 lakh crore.

In her announcement, Minister Sitharaman introduced three new railway corridors: the Energy, Mineral, and Cement Corridor, the Port Connectivity Corridor, and the High Traffic Density Corridor.
