Bhubaneswar, August 12: The Odisha Bidyut Karmachari Ekta Manch, a body of electricity workers, who had been sitting on a dharna since August 6 seeking fulfillment of their various demands, including resolving anomalies, payment of 20 percent house rend, and payment of rightful grade pay, has withdrawn their agitation on the assurances of the Energy Secretary Saswat Mishra.
The Mancha leaders discussed their demands with the Energy Secretary. Human Resources CGM and DGM also participated in the discussion.
Listening to the demands in rapt attention, the Energy Secretary termed many of the demands as legitimate and assured to take up the demands with the government soon.
He assured that he would take all steps to resolve the demands within a week by August 20.
“On the assurance of the Energy Secretary, we have deferred our agitation till Augst 21,” said Ekata Mancha leader Ramesh Chandra Satapathy.
Among others, Prasant Mohapatra, Satyabadi Bagha, Lalita Patnaik, Pranya Nayak, Sambhu Mohapatra, Akhaya Tripathi, Krushna Patnaik, Pabitra Khuntia, Sanjib Behera and Jagannath Moharana participated in the discussion.
The Manch leaders also threatened to stage indefinite agitation from August 22 if anomalies and house rent issues are not resolved by August 21.
