Odisha announces school closures in 14 districts due to Cyclone Dana: Here are all the details

Bhubaneswar, October 21: In a precautionary measure, Odisha Government on Monday announced schools in 14 districts will remain closed from October 23-25 in view of the cyclonic circulation Dana.

SRC Deoranjan Kumar Singh wrote to the School and Mass Education Secretary asking to take necessary action in this regard.

Schools will remain closed in Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Khurda, Nayagargh and Cuttack districts from October 23-25 (Wednesday-Friday) in view of the impending cyclonic storm.

“The Low Pressure Area over the Eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea moved west-northwestwards and lay as Well marked low pressure area over eastcentral Bay of Bengal at 1130 hours IST of today. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression by 22nd October morning and into a cyclonic storm by 23rd October, 2024 over eastcentral Bay of Bengal,” said IMD.

It is expected to cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during night of 24th and early morning 25th October as a severe Cyclonic Storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph.

Meanwhile, the State Government has cancelled the leaves of all its employees to tackle the cyclone effectively.
