Rourkela, November 4: The Student Activity Centre of NIT Rourkela and the Algorithmic and Programming Society (APS), on Monday organised Algovision, an ICPC-inspired coding contest.
The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) is a renowned global competition for university students, testing their programming and problem-solving abilities. Teams of three students work collaboratively to solve challenging algorithmic problems within a strict time frame.
Algovision 2024 included a 30-minute aptitude test and a 2.5-hour coding round, simulating an ICPC-style competitive programming experience. Over 200 students participated in Algovision, including more than 100 first-year students. The event aims to cultivate a strong competitive programming culture among freshers and introduce them to the challenge and excitement of ICPC-style contests.
The event was graced by NIT Rourkela Director Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Dean of Student Welfare Prof. Niranjan Panda, and Registrar Rohan Dhiman, SAC President Prof. Rajeev Panda and Vice Presidents Prof. Kaustubh Chaudhry and Prof. Tirthankar Sarkar. Faculty Advisor Prof. Arun Kumar and Prof. Anil Kumar Singh (Head of Safety and Security) were also present, demonstrating strong institutional support for building a vibrant competitive programming culture at NIT Rourkela.
