2 dead in Chhatra Bazar Bridge Collapse; CM announces Rs 3 lakh indemnity

Bhubaneswar, March 9: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief at the death of two persons at the collapse of a portion of old Chhatra Bazar Bridge in Cuttack.

The Chief Minister has conveyed his deep condolence to the bereaved family and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh for the next of the kin of the deceased.

He also has directed for providing best medical treatment to the injured and wished speedy recovery.

The Chief Minister also has ordered RDC level inquiry into the unfortunate incident.

As many as two persons were killed while another sustained injuries after a portion of the bridge connecting Chhatra Bazaar and Malgodown in Cuttack city collapsed on Wednesday evening.

The mishap occurred during the renovation and expansion work of the Taladanda Canal road.
