Kendrapara, April 17: With an objective of addressing fear and to empower the girls to defend themselves in any set of circumstances, a self defence training programme was inaugurated on Saturday at the Government Science Higher Secondary School at Ayeba in Kendrapara district.
Inaugurating the programme, institute Principal Dr. Binayak Prasad Pradhan said that self-defence training will be provided to at least 63 girl students of the Plus-II First Year Science students of the higher secondary school.
The programme will continue till April 25, excluding Sundays.
“The training programme shall undoubtedly instill a deeper sense of confidence in girl students for defending themselves against various crimes and atrocities on females,” said Pradhan.
Being coordinated by Programme Coordinator, students will be trained in practical ways of getting out of certain situations that could arise in daily life.
Dr. Binod Kumar Mallick joined as the chief guest and exhorted all the girl students for their active participation. Biswaranjan Mallick, Srikant Kumar Behera, Rakesh Patra, Deepankar Dash, Smitarani Sutar, Kirtika Priyadarshini along with the Master Trainer Sasmita Pattnayak and others were present.
