Bhubaneawar, January 11: Odisha on Wednesday created history by introducing nutri-cereals in food list of jail inmates.
A Millet food tasting festival was held today at the Jharpada Special Jail in Bhubaneswar as part of the “Piloting of Millets in Directorate of Prisons and Correctional Services” initiative.
Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment Department Principal Secretary, Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee joined the event as the chief guest and emphasized the benefits of nutri-cereals for farmers and inmates.
DIG Prisons announced set up of a special bakery in the jail to add nutri-cereals to inmates’ diet.
Biscuits, buns and bread made of nutri-cereals were distributed to the jail inmates at the Millet Shakti Cafe, a joint venture of Odisha Millets Mission and Mission Shakti.
