Bhubaneswar, September 29: Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal on Friday laid the foundation stone for Skill Development Centre for Women at the Sri Sathya Sai Women’s College here in the presence of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust (SSSCT) Managing Trustee RJ Rathnakar.
To be built over an area of 14,500 square feet in the first phase, the Centre aims to provide skills such as data handling, food processing, organic farming, fashion designing, among others to female students exclusively.
Addressing a packed audience of 600 students and devotees, the Governor stressed the need to impart self-confidence to young women and praised the institution for such a noble initiative.
Highlighting the need for imparting holistic education to young women, SSSCT Managing Trustee Rathnakar elaborated on the humanitarian contribution to society by Sri Sathya Sai Baba in the field of women empowerment and the role played by them in shaping the nation through Sri Sathya Sai Bal Vikas programme.
After interacting with the teachers of the college and the office bearers of the Organisation, Rathnakar planted a tree on the campus as part of Sri Sathya Sai Prema Tharu initiative.
