Bhubaneswar, Aug 25: ChiefMinister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday launched Mahaprayana scheme, a free hearse
service to carry dead body of their kin from hospitals for
funeral.
“The Mahaprayana scheme
will lessen the pains of the poor in transporting dead bodies of their kin from
the hospitals. The hearse vans would be available at all district headquarter
hospitals and Government medical colleges. This service will complement the
Harischandra Sahayata scheme, providing financial assistance to the poor for
conducting of last rites of deceased family members,” said Patnaik at a
function organised at Bajpur in Mahanga in Cuttack district.
