Odisha to organise investors’ meet in Bengaluru on Aug 26

Bhubaneswar, July 22: After
garnering investment commitments worth Rs 70,959 crore at the Odisha Investors’
Meet organised during Make In India Week in Mumbai from February 13-18 this
year, the State Government has decided to organise an investors’ meet in
Bengaluru on August 26.
Like Mumbai event Chief
Minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to attend the investors’ meet to attract
investment in IT, electronics and biotechnology sectors. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik
would have one-to-one meeting with top-level industry captains.
Sources said the State Government
has invited industry tycoons like Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry, Wipro
chairman Azim Premji, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw of Biocon to interact on investment
opportunities in Odisha.
The State Government
has initiated also decided to celebrate Biju Patnaik birth centenary function
in Bengaluru.
A preparatory meeting
in this regard was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Minister of
Industries and School and Mass Education Debi Prasad Mishra at the State
Secretariat here. Industries Principal Secretary Sanjeeb Chopra presented the
proposals for discussion.

Padhi and Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan along with senior officers from various departments participated in the deliberations.
It was decided that
Invest Odisha and Biju Patanik birth centenary would be organised at two
separate events at Bangaluru on August 26.
The Ministers and
Secretaries of concerned departments would also have discussions with industry
partners.
Around 50 interested
large and medium industries have been enlisted basing on their interest for
investment in Odisha. They are from the sectors like engineering, IT, hardware,
aviation, textiles, medical devices, lubricants, aerospace, beverages, telecom,
defense, transport and consumer durables, he said.
Mishra added that Biju Patnaik
centenary would be organised as another event with a number of attractive
cultural programmes involving Odias living in Bengaluru and Odia associations.
Chief Minister Patnaik would address at both the events.
