The National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has planned to
focus on three areas, increasing ground level disbursement of agricultural term
loan, deepening and wider spatial coverage of the ongoing efforts relating to
SHGs/JLGs/Producer Organisations as well as setting up of adequate scientific
warehouses and processing units this financial year to make farming a
profitable proposition.

Secretary GC Pati who graced the occasion as the chief guest appreciated NABARD
for its continuous support and active involvement in the development of rural sectors.
He urged for appropriate policy measures for reducing the inequality in farm
and non-farm sector. He laid emphasis on expanding outreach of banks in rural
areas to provide banking services in the remotest corner of the State.

As on date, NABARD have sanctioned RIDF assistance of nearly
Rs 12,000 crore to the State cumulatively. It is estimated that the completed
irrigation projects under RIDF have created irrigation potential of 9.13 lakh
hactre and the roads and bridges have created connectivity over 8129 km and
1.18 lakh meters, respectively.
