Bhubaneswar, May 3: Odisha on Monday reported as many as 8,914 COVID-19 cases, 6,527 recoveries and five deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.
The positive tally now mounted to 4,71,563 in the State while the death toll in the State jumped to 2,073 on Monday, added the H&FW Department.
Of the new cases reported from 30 districts, 5,081 were detected from various quarantine centres, and the rest 3,833 were detected during contact tracing, said a data released by the State Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department.
Of the five deaths, three deaths were registered in Khurda while Sundargarh saw two fatalities, added the H&FW Department.
Khurda, of which the capital city of Bhubaneswar is a part detected the maximum 1,258 cases followed by Sundargarh (592), Cuttack (587), Puri (530) and Sambalpur (520).
As many as 23 districts reported over 100 cases. They are- Bargarh (452), Nabarangpur (433), Bhadrak (351), Angul (331), Jharsuguda (304), Bolangir (291), Nuapada (278), Ganjam (262), Kalahandi (236), Jajpur (232), Nayagarh (194), Balasore (179), Boudh (175), Gajapati (165), Rayagada (157), Dhenkanal (149), Koraput (145), Mayurbhanj (134), Kendrapara (132), Sonepur (121), Jagatsinghpur (109), Keonjhar (104) and Deogarh (103).
Two other districts detected cases below 100. They are Malkangiri (73) and Kandhamal (62).
Odisha currently has 71,835 active cases, while 3,97,575 patients have recovered from the disease, so far, added the H&FW Department.
As many as 1,02,27,321 samples were tested in the State so far, including 46,643 on Sunday. The coastal State’s positivity rate stands at 4.54 per cent.
