Bhubaneswar, May 4: Odisha on Tuesday registered 8,216 fresh COVID-19 cases, 6,488 recoveries and 15 more fatalities in the last 24 hours, informed the State Health and Family Welfare Department.
Now, the total caseload in the State stood at 47,9752.
Of thy 8,216 cases, as many as 4,684 cases have been detected from quarantine centres while the rests of the cases (3532) are local contacts.
Odisha currently has 7,3548 active cases while the total number of recovered cases rose to 4,04,063 and death toll to 2,088. Khurda witnessed maximum five deaths followed by Rayagada which saw three casualties and one each in Sundergarh and Kalahandi, Cuttack, Puri and Sonepur.
With 1,271 cases, Khurda continues to remain on the top followed by Sundergarh at 636, Cuttack at 447, Puri at 402.
Similarly, Angul reported 394 cases in the last 24 hours while Sambalpur stood behind it at 385 and Bargarh 375.
Five other districts which recorded above 300 cases are Jajpur (347), Nabarangpur (319), Jharsuguda(316), Bolangir (305), Balasore (302).
Nuapada district witnessed 261 new positive cases during the period followed by Nayagarh (250), Sonepur (248). As many as 238 people tested positive while 232 new infections have been detected in Rayagada.
Mayurbhanj added 190 new cases while Koraput logged 133, Keonjhar saw 129, Gajapati stood at 121 and Jagatsinghpur at 106.
Seven other districts witnessed below 100 cases. They are Boudh (98, Deogarh (98), Kendrapara (87), Kandhamal (77), Ganjam (69), Bhadrak (63), Dhenkanal (47).
Malkangiri district recorded minimum 32 cases in the last 24 hours.
