CEC Gyanesh Kumar arrives in Odisha tomorrow on 3-day visit; to interact with BLOs on Monday

Bhubaneswar, December 26: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar, is scheduled to arrive on a three-day visit to the State on Saturday. During his stay, the CEC will visit Puri, Konark and also chair a meeting of the Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

According to an official communique, Kumar will first visit Puri and offer prayers at the Shree Jagannath Temple. Later, he will proceed to the Sun Temple at Konark.
On December 28 (Sunday), Kumar will visit heritage village Raghurajpur, about 10 kilometers away from Puri, and Dhauli Shanti Stupa (Peace Pagoda) on Bhubaneswar outskirts and Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves, and the Mukteswar Temple in Bhubaneswar.

On December 29 (Monday), at 3 PM, CEC Kumar will preside over a meeting with BLOs at the auditorium of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), Bhubaneswar.

In fact, BLO is a representative of Election Commission of India (ECI) at the grass-root level who plays a pivotal role in the process of roll revision and collecting actual field information with regard to the roll corresponding to the polling area assigned to him. BLO assists eligible citizens to become voters and obtain voter card. BLO provides those different forms for addition, deletion and correction of Electoral Roll entries, carries out physical verification, and gives his/her report to Electoral Registration Officer.

Kumar will depart Bhubaneswar later in the evening on Monday.
