Bhubaneswar: The Crafts Council of Odisha will host Master-Crafters, a two-day exhibition celebrating the richness of the state’s traditional handicrafts and the mastery of its artisans. The event will be held on May 24 and 25, 2025, at the Banquet Hall, Bhubaneswar Club, from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The exhibition will feature 20 master craftspersons, including National and State Award winners, who will present and sell a wide range of Odisha’s celebrated crafts. Art forms on display include Pattachitra, Palmleaf Engraving, Terracotta, Stone and Wood Carving, Appliqué, Golden Grass and Sabai Grass Weaving, Silver Filigree, Seashell Art, Dhokra Casting, Tribal Painting, and Handwoven Ikat.
The event aims to promote excellence in craftsmanship while offering artisans vital marketing opportunities during the lean season. By facilitating direct interaction between artisans and buyers, Master-Crafters supports financial sustainability and cultivates greater appreciation for Odisha’s living heritage.
The exhibition will be inaugurated at 5:00 PM on May 24. Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg will serve as the Chief Guest. She will be joined by Chairman of the Crafts Council of Odisha Santosh Kumar Mohapatra, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Handloom, Textiles and Handicrafts Department Poonam Guha Tapas Kumar, and Director of Handicrafts Pranatee Chhotray.
Affiliated with the Crafts Council of India and the World Craft Council, the Crafts Council of Odisha plays a critical role in preserving and promoting the state’s craft traditions. Its work spans skill development, market linkage, innovation, and policy advocacy, ensuring inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods for artisans.
