Bhubaneswar, October 21: The East Coast Railway General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal, reviewed the arrangements made to ensure passenger convenience, safety, and smooth travel during the ongoing festive season at the 24-hour War Room set up at the ECoR Headquarters in Bhubaneswar.
To facilitate hassle-free travel, Indian Railways is operating over 12,000 special trains across the country, out of which East Coast Railway is running 367 special trains. Since 1st October 2025, a total of 76 special trains have already been operated, carrying over 70,000 passengers, so far.
With the sharp rise in passenger traffic during this period, East Coast Railway has implemented extensive measures to manage the surge efficiently and ensure seamless operations across all its divisions.
As per demand and booking trends, East Coast Railway is also introducing additional special trains wherever required, keeping track of real-time ticket bookings to ensure maximum passenger convenience.
For effective crowd management and security, RPF and GRP personnel have been strategically deployed at all major stations. Separate entry and exit routes have been designated to streamline passenger flow and avoid congestion. Security teams comprising RPF, GRP, Dog Squads, and Volunteers are maintaining strict vigilance to prevent the carrying of inflammable materials, liquor, and other prohibited items.
A robust 24×7 surveillance system has been activated, covering more than 900 CCTV cameras installed across Khurda Road, Waltair, and Sambalpur Divisions. Real-time monitoring from the control room enables immediate response and corrective action whenever required.
The East Coast Railway continues to address real-time passenger demand by arranging additional special trains wherever necessary.
More than 50,000 dedicated railway employees across the zone are working tirelessly to ensure safe, smooth, and comfortable travel for passengers during this festive season.
