Odisha Cabinet approves Rs 226 crore Ghatagaon Maa Tarini Temple development project

Bhubaneswar, September 29: The State Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday approved the lowest tender (excluding GST) worth Rs 146 crore in favor of Dilip Construction Private Limited for carrying out the development works of Maa Tarini Temple Complex located at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district.

“The Odisha Government has laid special emphasis on the holistic development of the Maa Tarini Temple complex located at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district. This peripheral development of the Maa Tarini Temple complex will fulfill the long-standing demands of devotees. As a result of this initiative, the overall economic development of the surrounding region is also expected,” said a cabinet note.

These works will be undertaken over an area of 59.206 acres and are targeted to be completed within 24 months. A total expenditure of Rs 226 crore will be incurred for this comprehensive development project.

For the convenience of devotees, the facilities like a 216-bed Yatri Niwas (Guest House for pilgrims), pilgrimage centre, interpretation centre, food plaza and watch tower, market complex, dedicated space for preparation and serving of temple offerings (Prasad) with seating for around 500 people and a cloak Room for storing personal belongings will be developed.

Upon the completion of these developments, the sacred site of Maa Tarini in Ghatagaon will be recognized as a major religious tourism destination in India.
