Bhubaneswar, December 25: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday inaugurated the new Training-cum-Briefing Hall and the state-of-the-art Counter Terrorism Training Complex at SOG Chandaka on the city outskirts, strengthening Odisha’s security preparedness and operational capabilities.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated multiple police infrastructure projects like 16 new police stations across, 70 quarters, office buildings, barracks and armouries in 16 districts in the State.
The Chief Minister also announced an enhancement in Risk Allowance for SOG personnel from December.
Reiterating zero tolerance towards violence, CM Majhi affirmed the State Government’s firm resolve to act against violent elements and appealed to extremists to surrender and join the mainstream of society.
Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Majhi said, “I believe that, under the guidance of the Central Government, by March 2026, we will completely put an end to the Maoist problem and usher in a new era of peace and development in Odisha.”
The Centre has set March 31, 2026 as the target date to fully eradicate the Naxal menace. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, security forces have achieved record-breaking operational successes in 2025.
According to reports, in 2025 so far, 317 Naxals have been neutralised, 862 arrested and 1,973 surrendered in the country.
In 2024 alone, 290 were neutralised, 1,090 arrested and 881 surrendered. A total of 28 top Naxal leaders have been neutralised, including 1 Central Committee Member in 2024 and 5 in 2025.
Major successes include 27 hardcore Naxals killed in Operation Black Forest, 24 surrendering in Bijapur on 23 May 2025, and 258 surrendering in October 2025 across Chhattisgarh (197) and Maharashtra (61), including 10 seniors Naxals in the surrenderers.
