Odisha: Congress changes candidates in 5 Assembly seats; Debasis Nayak to contest from Bari

Bhubaneswar, May 5: The Congress on Sunday changed its candidates in five Assembly constituencies in Odisha for the ensuing elections.

Debasis Nayak, the former Minister and four-time MLA, who joined Congress yesterday nearly after two months after resigning from the BJD and joining BJP, has been given ticket from Bari replacing Arati Deo.

Sudarshan Das has been fielded from Jaleswar in place of Debi Prasanna Chand.

Similarly, Uma Ballav Rath would contest from Puri in place of Sujit Mohapatra while Himashu Chaulia would fight from Athamalick in place of Bijayananda Chaulia and Sudarshan Sahoo from Athagarh in place of Mehboob Ahmed Khan.

The party also fielded Akshaya Acharya as its candidate from Nilgiri Assembly constituency.

Simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections will be held in Odisha in four phases from May 13.
