Bhubaneswar, February 20: East Coast Railway General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal on Friday conducted a comprehensive safety inspection of the Nayagarh–Jakhapura section under Khurda Road division, to review the safety standards, infrastructure condition and operational efficiency across key railway installations.
He was accompanied by Khurda Riad Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Alok Tripathi, along with Principal Heads of Departments from Headquarters and senior officers of the Division.
The inspection commenced at Nayagarh Railway station, where the General Manager reviewed station and yard arrangements, including platforms, operational systems and passenger amenities.
He further inspected the Crew Lobby, Health Unit and Running Room, Railway Colony and Children’s Park and passenger amenities at the important Railway station of the section i.e. Kendujhargarh, Harichandanpur Railway stations.
Interaction with frontline staff and Gangmen was a significant part of the visit, during which the General Manager encouraged open feedback on work practices, safety awareness and field level challenges.
Funkwal also interacted with railway families reaffirming the administration’s commitment to staff welfare and improved living conditions.
The other major portions of the safety inspection were Level crossing gates, Tower Wagon Shed, Traction Sub Station, Limited height subway, Curves, Bridges of the section to assess safety compliance, infrastructure and maintenance preparedness.
Throughout the inspection, General Manager Funkwal issued necessary instructions to officers and staff to strengthen safety mechanisms, enhance maintenance standards and ensure reliable and punctual train operations. He presented awards to frontline staff as a gesture of appreciation for their sincere commitment to duty.
The inspection underscores East Coast Railway’s continued focus on safety, operational excellence, passenger convenience and staff welfare, reflecting its commitment to providing safe, efficient and passenger friendly railway services.
