Bhubaneswar: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has advised one of the Ministry’s PSUs to contribute around Rs 3.2 crore, equivalent of the cost of 1000 kilolitres (KL) of kerosene on the cost basis, through CSR funds to the Odisha Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to meet the requirement.
The development came after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has written to Pradhan seeking urgent allocation of an additional 1,000 kilolitres (KL) of kerosene oil for the State to be distributed to the people in Cyclone Fani-affected areas.
In a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Pradhan said, “Additional quantity of 1000 KL SKO has been made available for lifting by the State Government. Alongside, sufficient supplies of petrol, diesel and LPG have already been ensured in cyclone affected areas in Odisha.”
Notably, Patnaik on May 10 wrote to the Union Minister that though restoration works are in progress on war footing, but due to the extensive damage caused to the power infrastructure, supply of electricity will take some more time. “Absence of electricity has led to a surge in demand for kerosene oil,” said Patnaik.
